Museum Exhibitions and Partnerships Feature Fallingwater

Visiting Washington, D.C. soon or live there or nearby? Did you know you can experience the "Frank Lloyd Wright’s Southwestern Pennsylvania" exhibition at the National Building Museum? This collaborative exhibition between Fallingwater and The Westmoreland Museum of American Art features the unbuilt designs Wright imagined for the region. The exhibition draws you in with realistic animated films that will leave you asking, “What if?” Closer to home in our Speyer Gallery, we’re featuring the unbuilt designs Wright proposed for the Fallingwater estate included in the exhibition. View them the next time you’re on tour

If you’re taking a Fallingwater interior tour now through July 28, you’ll likely see select works on display throughout the house that represent five generations of the internationally renowned Werkstätte Carl Auböck. In conjunction with the Touchstone Center for Craft’s exhibition “Auböck: The Gallet Collection,” this installation includes eight objects that highlight the beauty, utility and sophistication of works created by the Auböcks. Pictured above, the satellite ashtray (1983, reissued 2022), designed by Carl Auböck IV, is on display in the Guest House. Located in Vienna, Austria, the Auböck family workshop has been in operation for more than 120 years and is represented in important museum collections around the world.

Learn More: Preservation in Progress

Stay up to date on our preservation activities via our preservation blog. Our maintenance crew and contractors spent much of early spring testing waterproofing methods, injecting grout and assessing the effects of rain and moisture on the roofs as well as the terrace walls of the Guest House and Main House East Terrace.

Learn more about water leaks, masonry repairs and weatherproofing techniques used–all in an effort to preserve Fallingwater’s major building systems: stone walls, flat roofs, flagstone terraces, steel window and door frames, and concrete.
