We are a member-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting and restoring the region’s waters, forests, natural areas and wildlife, planting community trees, gardens and greenspaces, and caring for Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater.

Springtime at Fallingwater is Refreshing. Visit During the 90th Anniversary Year!

Visit Fallingwater this spring to enjoy the house and its natural setting as the wildflowers bloom, the green forest canopy spreads and Bear Run swiftly cascades beneath the house. It’s not hard to see why Fallingwater is a place for deep discovery, understanding and transformation!

Celebrate 90 years since the first stone was laid in 1936 through an array of special in-person and online events and experiences throughout the year, including Fallingwater’s 90th Anniversary Gala on August 29.

Learn about Fallingwater’s innovative architecture, the Kaufmann family’s vision and Frank Lloyd Wright’s groundbreaking design during guided architectural tours, in-depth guided tours, special family tours, guided grounds tours and more.

While at the Visitor Center, be sure to visit the Fallingwater Café for locally sourced fare, check out the Museum Store for unique gifts, and view “The Kaufmann Films: A Legacy in Motion,” an exhibition in the Speyer Gallery featuring the Kaufmanns’ home movies.

Tours are offered daily (except Wednesdays) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through November 30, 2026. During December, tours are offered weekends and December 26-31, 2026 (except Wednesday, December 30). Reserve your tour at Fallingwater.org or 724-329-8501.

Care for Redbuds, Have Brews on Us

Did you see Pittsburgh’s North Shore and parts of downtown awash in pink recently? That was thanks to the 1,531 redbud trees we planted through the Pittsburgh Redbud Project during the last 10 years! Help keep the redbuds looking great: Volunteer on June 16 from 5-7 p.m. for Redbuds & Brews, hosted by our Emerging Leaders. Thanks to KeyBank, our presenting sponsor!

Learn about the redbud project and our greening efforts for the NFL Draft in our “Green, Black & Gold” webinar recording.

Volunteer to Care for Gardens, Preserves & Trees

Is your green thumb itchy? Become a volunteer steward for one of our community flower gardens!

During May and June, gather friends or coworkers to volunteer with our land stewardship team to plant trees, maintain trails and care for meadows on WPC preserves.

We also need volunteer riparian stewards to periodically check on young streamside trees in rural areas in several counties. Check out these and other opportunities.

Attend a Fallingwater Fireside

Join us for conversation, wine and hors d’oeuvres at Fallingwater Firesides.

On June 23, Allistair Gordon, award-winning critic, curator, cultural historian and author, will discuss his career writing about art, the environment and architecture.

On September 24, Charles Renfro, partner at Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R), will discuss his career in design, including projects at Stanford, Brown and Columbia universities and multiple interdisciplinary arts centers.

Climate Change Affects Unique Habitats, Rare Species

As the climate warms, species such as marbled salamanders reliant on vernal pools and Kate’s mountain clover growing in shale barrens have little (or no) option of moving elsewhere.

Climate change presents conservation challenges to our region’s unique habitats and the species that call them home.

Check out our map for examples of special habitats and reliant species, and how WPC staff works to protect them.

Celebrate Native Species Day on May 20

Thanks to our supporters, partners and volunteers, our work supports Pennsylvania’s native ecosystem of plants, insects and animals on which food production, recreation, fisheries, timber and other industries depend.

We plant native trees and pollinator gardens, study wildlife, and conserve land and improve rivers and streams to protect habitat for thousands of native species.

Enjoy native spring wildflowers blooming on our preserves!

The lungless four-toed salamander (Hemidactylium scutatum) lives in forested areas that feature bogs, marshes or woodland pools. It relies on sphagnum moss for primary nesting material and as a critical component of its habitat.

This specimen “posed” for WPC volunteer Ben Walsh at Jennings Environmental Center in Butler County, a state park that features post-glacial, relict prairie habitat, open sedge fen and vernal pools.
