Fallingwater: Beautiful from Every Angle |
|
One of the most amazing aspects of Fallingwater is that the house presents dramatically different views and shadows depending on your vantage point.
Autumn is a wonderful time to examine those perspectives and discover Fallingwater’s intimate relationship with the landscape.
Take an interior guided tour through November 29 or on weekends in December. Exterior guided tours are available through October 31. |

Help These Three Animals Survive Winter |
|
When cold winds blow and snow flies, animals’ instincts help them survive.
For example, bats hibernate, some birds migrate and some insects nest in leaves and plant stems. Unfortunately, humans often disrupt these processes, aggravating declines in populations.
You can take simple actions to help! Here’s what to do about bats in your attic, and actions to help birds during migration. Click below to help insects and bees survive winter. |

Visit one of WPC’s 47 preserves, such as Toms Run Nature Reserve (pictured here), as trees’ autumn colors reveal themselves.
Those colors exist in spring and summer…we just can’t see them until fall! During fall, low temperatures and limited sunlight make green chlorophyll scarce in tree leaves, revealing yellow and rich orange (xanthophyll and carotenoid) pigments.
Meanwhile, leaf sugars convert to red and purple (anthocyanin) pigments. Drier, colder days make for more color.
