Discover Bentley Run Wetlands: Forests, Wetlands Protected in the French Creek Watershed
Nature lovers can see a large beaver dam, hike through a meadow habitat and enjoy wildlife watching, hunting and fishing on nearly 350 more acres in the French Creek watershed in Erie County, thanks to permanent protection by the Conservancy through a conservation easement. Although the land will continue in
private ownership, the property, now named Bentley Run Wetlands, is open to the public. The acres, consisting of a hemlock forest, streams and wetlands, are protected from future development. Sustainable timber harvesting will continue on 126 acres of the property, which is adjacent to State Game Land #102 in Union Township.
We have protected more than 6,000 acres within the 1,250-square-mile French Creek watershed, a priority conservation region due to its diversity of aquatic wildlife and rare plant and animal species. Learn more about this newly protected land and the funding and support that made it possible.
A new exhibition, “Touchstone: A Half-Century of Craft,” opens this month at Fallingwater’s Speyer Gallery and celebrates Touchstone Center for Craft’s landmark 50th anniversary.
Hear directly from the artisans in an engaging roundtable discussion on how Fallingwater served as a source of inspiration for their new featured works.
Fall is a great time to plant and care for trees! We welcome volunteers to help plant and care for trees in neighborhoods throughout Allegheny County through mid-November.
