Newly Protected Land Supports Species of Concern, Safeguards Habitats
Nearly 105 acres have been conserved and added to State Game Lands 48 in Londonderry Township, Bedford County. The land was purchased from conservation-minded owners and funded in part by a planned gift from the estate of James and Eleanor Thomas. The rocky, forested property supports several species of concern, including the globally imperiled tricolored bat.

WPC Studies the Impact of Invasives in Northwest Pa.
The Lake Erie watershed is home to many sites of ecological importance. To identify what invasive weeds could find their way to Erie, WPC Invasive Plant Ecologist Brian Daggs surveyed sites throughout 12 Northwest Pa. counties.

Apply for Internships and Jobs
Do you know a college student who would love to have a paid summer internship at Fallingwater or WPC? Interns complete hands-on projects relevant to their area of specialization. Fallingwater has opportunities in multimedia, collections, landscape and education; WPC has watershed conservation internships. We have job opportunities, too.

Share a Water-themed Book with a Young Conservationist
Children can explore and learn about nature through books reviewed and recommended by Conservancy staff, in collaboration with the Allegheny County Library Association. Director of Land Stewardship Andy Zadnik recommends I Am the Rain,” written and illustrated by John Paterson, as a nice introduction to the water cycle.

Cherry Run is located on our 1,500-acre Bennett Branch Forest preserve in Elk and Clearfield counties. Nature enthusiasts can explore the natural beauty of this forest situated within the headwaters of the Susquehanna River. We are improving water quality on Cherry Run by managing abandoned mine drainage and restoring the land by planting trees. Watch for spring images soon!
